I just did some searching and found out that the Rangers 5th round pick from the 2006 Draft, Tomas Zaborsky played for the Dayton Bombers briefly and wore that red style I picked up recently.

Too bad I didn't know about when he played in Dayton, I could have driven up the road to watch him play (not that I think he'll ever make the club, he's playing in Europe now). I did find a pic of a really nice specialty jersey he wore in Dayton to honor Wright Patterson Air Force Base that was auctioned off to help military families:

Gotta give it to the minor leagues for some nice one-off jersey designs.
Bleedin-Blue
Good God man, if you ever ask me to put on a kit that looks like that, I QUIT.

I don't mind designs like that when they are one-off specialty jerseys. Now if that was a regular jersey it'd be a bit much.

Reminds me I need to get around to getting some kits and send them to Bleedin-Blue's jersey sweatshop sometime ...

Yeah I don't just want to send him that Canucks patch. Hopefully I'll earn some money (when my job finally starts) and get some jerseys customized
akteon
He may not be well liked currently, but I actually began the process of getting this jersey customized (with the correct nameplate) about a year and a half ago when we all still had hope ...

Dr. D
Mmmm...Starter mesh...
Nilan 666
Like him, hate his contract.
akteon

My favorite Blackhawks style, customized with one of my favorite players. Eventually I'll be adding a Blackhawks 75th anny patch.

I've been looking for one of these for a while to put the patch on. This will eventually be a Leetch (haven't decided "C" or "A" as I have pictures of that season of him wearing both in the liberty jersey with the 911 patch).
Bleedin-Blue
NICE Matt. I love the Amonte jersey. It's nice to see the C on the correct year jersey too. I was actually trying to work a trade with Milt Byron for three of Tony's gamers from the Hawks, Coyotes and Flyers.

Although I've been sorta quiet lately, here's my latest two which showed up yesterday:

Everybody loves the Norge Forbund.
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Norway is awesome. The pictures of the Olympic jersey will be up on my birthday b/c I"m not allowed to touch it until then laugh2.gif
toph
Doesn't someone here hate Marc Savard?

Bleedin-Blue
I've seen it. It's a pre-season jersey so there won't be much wear and the name is heat-pressed onto a nameplate, which is a Rangers pre-season fixture. I wouldn't pay over $200 for it and since there's already a bid on it, no thanks. I really wanted the Kings 30th anny throwback that's listed over there but it's already at $1,500 plus the 15% buyers' hammer AND then shipping. I hate to do it but I have to pass on that one. These auction houses really make it difficult on prospective bidders.

Damn I really wanted to see you get that one sad.gif

Well I will be posting here soon with something along the lines of what Blue posted here earlier but a smaller country. I'm really excited about that one as the guy I am getting it from gave me a great deal and has held the jersey for me until my job starts actually paying me.
Bleedin-Blue
Well, I don't have an extra $2,000 lying around. It'll probably go higher than that anyway. I was hinging on three of my gamers selling but the deal has stalled and won't be done in time now. Oh well. Shit happens.
akteon
I agree with XC, it sucks - I had hoped you'd end up with that Kings jersey.
Bleedin-Blue
Heh...well, you guys may not like it but I fucking HATE it. That's pretty much the be all, end all when it comes to rare jerseys. Only worn twice and the jerseys went to the players themselves. That was before the days of the two and three sets of specialty jerseys too so it was one and done. I've been after this one for a long time too. It would have been a monster cornerstone in my collection but it's not looking too good. Unless somebody can lend me a few thousand bucks by tomorrow night.

Note to any ladies out there; I will whore myself out for said price between now and then. I've been told I am the Dirk Diggler of my day. Make it happen! Please!

When New York Jets coach Rex Ryan threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a recent New York Mets game, he wore a Nolan Ryan throwback, circa 1969.

At a New York Yankees game, Ryan showed up in a retro Thurman Munson jersey.

In Chicago, at Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals, he turned heads with a Chicago Blackhawks throwback. Bobby Hull? Stan Mikita? No, it was "Griswold 00," a replica worn by Chevy Chase's character in the comedy "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation."

When it comes to casual attire, the Jets' coach prefers old-school. Ryan's closet is filled with more than 50 throwbacks, including jerseys from the four major sports and a handful from sports-themed movies.

Ryan's personality is big and colorful, and that's how he likes his clothes.

"I want to be comfortable, and I don't take myself too seriously," he says, explaining his fondness for sports jerseys. "I have a true love and a true passion for sports. That's who I am. I'm more comfortable at a ballgame than I would be at an opera or watching a show. I love watching games."

During the summer, or until he reports to training camp Aug. 1, Ryan will wear a throwback almost every day. It could be Ed Giacomin one day, Ernie Banks the next. If he prefers playful over nostalgic, he might opt for his Mean Machine jersey from "The Longest Yard."

Yeah, he's got that.

He also has Bobby Boucher's football jersey from "The Waterboy" and Roy Hobbs' gray flannels from "The Natural."

Baseball? Ryan has Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Reggie Jackson, Billy Williams and a 1908 Chicago Cubs replica. He attended high school in Chicago, where his father, Buddy, served as the Bears' defensive coordinator in the 1980s. That explains the heavy Cubs representation in his wardrobe.

In other sports, Ryan has Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Walt Frazier, Bob Lanier, Gordie Howe, Dave Schultz and, of course, Joe Namath.

For the record, Ryan owns Namath's white Jets jersey, not green, because Broadway Joe wore white in Super Bowl III. If you didn't know that Ryan is obsessed with the Super Bowl, you haven't been reading the New York headlines for the past 18 months.

He created a stir a few months ago while wearing Schultz to a Carolina Hurricanes game. Recognized in the crowd, he was approached by Hurricanes cheerleaders, who presented him with the home team's jersey. He changed on the spot, but when pulling off his Flyers jersey, he experienced … um … a wardrobe malfunction, revealing his belly to the crowd. That made the ESPN highlights.

Ryan started collecting throwbacks about 10 years ago, when he was a Baltimore Ravens assistant. It's not a cheap hobby (the average price is about $250), and it isn't easy finding a size 60 or 64.

"I have to do some digging," he says.

Ryan's oldest brother, Jim, a St. Louis attorney, believes the fascination stems from their childhood in Toronto, where they lived for eight years with their mother. In the heart of hockey country, most kids wore jeans and a hockey sweater to school.

Jim's favorite throwback, though, is baseball-related -- a replica jersey from the original "Bad News Bears" movie, complete with the "Chico's Bail Bonds" ad on the back. Ryan owns No. 12, Tanner Boyle, the pint-sized shortstop. As his older brother notes, "You could put 10 Tanners in that throwback."

Jim Ryan tells a funny story from 2004, when his other brother, Rob, Rex's twin, was hired as the Oakland Raiders' defensive coordinator. This happened during the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. Jim and Rex wanted to congratulate Rob, so they met his flight at the airport.

Rob emerged from the plane with his two bosses, owner Al Davis and coach Norv Turner, both of whom did double and triple takes when they saw Rex in a "Bad News Bears" jersey.

"They were looking at him up and down, and there was this awkward silence," Jim says. "Finally, Norv broke the ice and said, 'Hey, nice throwback.' I'm not sure Al Davis knew what it was."

The throwbacks go perfectly with Ryan's "regular guy" image. But sometimes he can be too regular. At the Major League Baseball All-Star Game last summer in St. Louis, Rex was invited to a $200-a-head dinner. He was all dressed to go, but his brother convinced him his attire wasn't appropriate -- a Bada Bing Club T-shirt.

Wisely, he passed on the dinner. There's a difference between throwback and thrown out.

Heh thanks for the update. I'm actually going to save my money and blow it on Saturday for a sale I brokered months ago. I am so glad the guy kept this for me laugh2.gif! And I hate practice jerseys, but I"ll never afford one of his real ones unless it hits MEGA Sale. Just makes getting the grail better.
Bleedin-Blue
Remember this tool?

His sister was pretty hot in her time. The Rangers should have signed her at the time. Maybe if they'd have gang-banged her in the locker room, they'd have been looser for the games. Her too then, huh? HAR!

Surprises are just so much fun biggrin.gif

You'll know in like 2 weeks when I get the jersey. Let's just say he's a huge star in a different country and wears the number of the day of my birthday.
Dr. D
So you got a Peter Forsberg jersey?
Paul Smachetti
I just acquired a new baseball jersey. I enjoy collecting baseball gamers almost as much as goalie gamers. I tend to pickup my baseball gamers in the spring and summer since I'm into baseball and they're a whole lot cheaper than hockey gamers. Picked it up for $125. So anyway here's the style jersey I'm getting .Mine's a Balantien #64 .

The Brittania one is one I've wanted for a while. Being a shitty Tackla mesh jersey makes it that much better.

Nice! Those two are pretty awesome. I love those tackla styles. Especially because of the diamonds on the shoulders

I'm guessing they are both from Anthony?

Yes, the Jew and Roo jerseys are both from Ant BUT the Hungary and England ones are from someone else over on gameworn.net. Those will take MUCH longer to arrive since they're coming from NI.

Thanks. Almost went w/ a road Encarnacion but like the red alt. better. Really sharp jerseys. Actually all 3 versions are sharp.
Got any Reds gamers? If you're interested in a cheap Reds gamer ($125-$150 range) I can steer you in the right direction.
