Higgins? Bleh. I'd make it Markov, or better yet, A. Kostitsyn.

Pffft...wutchu know bout Habs boy? Nuffin! Higgins and Komisarek are NY boys. Plus they're both filled with awesome. On this subject, there is no debate. It'll be Komisarek.

I got this via shop.nhl.com. I paid full price but I used my Christmas bonus money so it's all good in the hood.

Komisarek is a nice choice. That must have been really expensive if you used nhl.com. Still waiting on Mr. Stamkos to arrive, but its worth it!

Woo-hoo!! Man, I HATE this fucking style but I LOVE this damn jersey!

I just got my first Edge jersey as well.

I would have gone replica if they had used the Edge cut but I've got no regrets. Going to wait until the summer to put a name on it, going with Hudler if he sticks around or Datsyuk, not putting the name of someone who won't be around a long time on something like this.
Nilan 666
I liked the Hawks ones more from that game but that D is fucking sweet.
Bleedin-Blue
Oooooh very nice. I like it. Waist stripes would've made it nicer but it's still a home run. Who are you thinking about putting on it? Let me know when you're ready. I'll customize it for you a lot faster than sending it out somewhere.
Nilan 666
Are Detroit doing a negative of that one with mostly red and a white stripe in the middle? That would be sweet.
Bleedin-Blue
You know, I thought that'd be cool looking too but that jersey is modeled after the Detroit Cougars jersey that was used in their inception in 1926. Teams only wore one jersey color back then. Detroit wore whites everywhere. The Rangers wore their blue jerseys exclusively too thus the nickname, "Broadway Blueshirts".

Rangers should do a 1926 style jersey when they hit their hundred years in 17 years. Or now! Forget the Liberty Jersey, do a 1926 style lettering on RANGERS. That would be sweet.
Bleedin-Blue
They did that style in 1991-92 for the NHL's 75th anniversary:

They really should do it again.

laugh2.gif Of course. I'm just going to name random styles of jerseys from now on so you can put pictures on.

Hey go right ahead. Hell, I'm only missing four teams total from today's NHL.

Ok let's start this off with a 1997 Jersey with a team from the Northeast Division in the Eastern Conference.
Bleedin-Blue
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
1999 Pro player Western Conference.
Bleedin-Blue
Wait...you have to be more specific about the years. 1999-2000? Or 1998-99? Because Pro Player was only around for 1999-2000. However:

...and just for good measure, one from 1999(albeit a Nike):

xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Haha I meant 1999-2000 because I knew it was around for that year.

Let's go 1996-1997 Starter Original Six Team that is not the Rangers.
Bleedin-Blue
Negative. The only other Original Six team that wore Starters that year was Boston and I don't have that one. Only two CCM's and two Reebok's.

Well I tried. I know you have a nice Graves starter, so I figured the whole league wore them. Guess I'm still a n00b.
Bleedin-Blue
Nope. Only one team in 1995-96(Avalanche), eight teams in 1996-97(Bruins, Avalanche, Panthers, Whalers, Kings, Rangers, Coyotes and Penguins) and then ten teams in 1998-99(Bruins, Hurricanes, Avalanche, Panthers, Kings, Canadiens, Rangers, Coyotes, Penguins and Blues).

Well if only a few teams wore Starter jerseys, how come all the teams are wearing the EDGE jerseys?
Bleedin-Blue
Because back then CCM didn't own the rights to do ALL the jerseys in the league. From 1989-90 until 1994-95, they had the whole league but then Starter and Nike began to produce jerseys for certain teams. CCM reacquired everyone in 2000-01 when they made all the white jerseys CCM and all the dark jerseys KOHO(which was owend by CCM). Once Reebok bought CCM, they took over the rights to do the entire league.

So CCM was bought by Reebok? That is why they switched to Reebok. Well do you ever think that could happen again, where other teams make jerseys for certain teams? I really want these Edges to go away!
Bleedin-Blue
Well, I think the days of multiple companies producing jerseys is over but I'd love to see the EDGE go away. I don't think it's happening any time soon though. Reebok invested a buttload of money into this system and won't be pulling the plug until sales go down...which they aren't.

Yeah these things are everywhere at the Garden. I feel dirty wearing my Naslund edge jersey sometimes. Unfortunately we are going to have to deal but that Habs jersey you got its awesome btw!

I can't wait for next year I'm totally getting one of the Blue jerseys that they wore their first year the Habs will wear for a few games.
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Wow. This guy fooled me good. I am impressed. So Mr. Stamkos came today. And erm.. I got duped AGAIN. There are so many things glaringly obvious with this jersey, I'm so mad I didn't notice them in the pictures. There are no double shoulders, no double elbows, and this is a replica jersey with a fight strap actually sewn on. Also, this isn't the Edge style! Its the old CCM style with edge material. This guy went all out. The numbers and chest crest aren't tackle twill, and the numbers on the front are waaaay too big. The guy actually sent me real tags that would be attached to it, and sewed on real tags that are authentic (I think). I'll probably keep it, because its not shit quality like the Gretzky jersey was, and it was relatively cheap. And I think Stamkos will be a star. Pictures will be up in a few minutes.

Grr I can't buy a break with eBay sometimes!
Dr. D
XCDude, my advice to you honestly is don't buy an EDGE jersey on eBay, because most are fakes. Definitely get other stuff from there -- just PM Blue or me to check it out before you put in a bid. If you want an EDGE jersey, the best thing to do is honestly spend your life savings on one at NHL.com.

See I asked blue before hand. He was like yeah I really don't have any experience with it, so I can tell you anything. I took a chance, and the jersey isn't actually that bad, so I'm going to keep it. I'm staying away from EDGE on eBay though. I sent the guy a nasty email because the tags are authentic, so that kind of led me to buy it.
Bleedin-Blue
I got a nice one in the mail today:

It had Holik on the back. He's long gone now though.

Another one! Where'd ya find this one?
Bleedin-Blue
Welp...I may as well just stop collecting jerseys right now. Nothing is ever gonna compare to what I just acquired. Ever.

Best ever.

Show off! That's epic though. More epic than the Whalers jersey.

If it was one of King Clancy's that would top it, other than that I got nothing.

Clancy was only associated with the Maple Leafs organization though. The switch was made in February or March of 1927 when Conn Smythe and co. bought the Toronto Saint Patricks and renamed them the Maple Leafs. Those jerseys were worn for one game on March 3, 2002; the 75th anniversary of the Maple Leafs franchise. Each player wore two jerseys of that style. One was auctioned off and the other was given to the players for their own collection.

sweeet jersey! (not gonna lie....i tried it on! ;-))
Paul Smachetti
For anyone that's interested there's a guy on Gameworn.net selling a GI Chris Drury white Rangers jersey for $200.It comes w/the appropriate MeiGray LOA. I'm guessing that's a lot cheaper than having one made up for you and it could've potentially been game worn. At the very least it was sitting in the Rangers trainer's room or lockeroom at some point .

My two latest custom jobs:

Shanny from the 1998 Finals.

Dino-saurus from 1992-93.

Ciccarelli is still one of my all-time favorites. How this fucking guy isn't in the Hall of Fame is still beyond me. I actually have plans for three more Dino jerseys in the near future. Mid 1980's North Stars, early 1990's Capitals and late 90's Panthers.
Tex
no Ciccarelli set would be complete without his sweater from the OKC Blazers...
Nilan 666
I remember ages ago me and my bro went to a Rangers-Isles game on the Island and the jersey I saw the most there was Cicarelli with the North Stars.
Bleedin-Blue
no Ciccarelli set would be complete without his sweater from the OKC Blazers...

Heh...good call there brotha. BUT, back then they were the Oklahoma City Stars. The old CHL was kinda like the AHL is now in that a lot of teams used it as a minor league. And if I could find that jersey, I'd probably had to have sold half my collection to afford it.

Wasn't that also the league that had the Houston Apollos in it? Not many people know that Messier actually played a few games with that team before going up to the Oilers. I had a chance to buy the jersey he wore for that team a few years ago but passed on it...I probably shouldn't have. By probably, I mean I was a fucking moron.
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Did the WHA jerseys have fight straps? Because I keep finding these ones on Ebay with double shoulders and elbows but no fight strap. I'm guessing they are replicas.
