If you're a seller, who do you keep?
Reyes, Delgado and Beltran because you can't trade them anyway.
Everyone else goes. Even Wright. I'm the most disappointed in him this year. He may be the face, but he certainly is not the heart.
edit: Santana and K-Rod but I thought that was without saying.

Minaya was supposed to talk to reporters at 3:30, then it got pushed to 4:30 and it has yet to happen.
Reports claiming Bernazard is holding Minaya back, shirtless of course, threatening to fight him if he talks about this. Daily News to report on it in 2 weeks.

Omar saying nothing, WFAN has it right now. I don't know why they called a press conference to repeat what the Mets already officially said.
Omar is making the Mets looks stupid. He basically just said he knew nothing about this and the Mets are investigating because the reports are out there.
Oh man.
SorryaboutthatWhoa
Jul 22 2009, 04:07 PM
Was Omar prepared for this???
He keeps saying it. "It's being investigated because their are reports out there."
HOW DOES A VP OF A TEAM RIP HIS SHIRT OFF AND CHALLENGE GUYS TO A FIGHT AND YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT IT.
Now he's asking for baseball questions. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO ADDRESS BERNAZARD STUFF!
This is amazing.

And Jerry just laughing about it on WFAN right now. I know alot of people don't like Jerry, but the guy cracks me up.
WOOOPSIE!!! Breaking as I write this, Jerry just slipped and practically admitted that the rumors about K-Rod and Bernie having a problem on the bus last week are true.
Mike: What about this K-Rod Bernazard on the bus thing. Anything on that?
Jerry: Nope. Not my thing
Mike: Did you know about it?
Jerry: aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh *voice starts cracking like holding back laughter* again, I'm not gunna go there.

Mike is shockingly lobbing meatballs at Jerry right now. Of all the times I would want him to hammer Jerry it would be now. I don't even mean about Bernie, they are talking baseball now.
Go after him Mike, these are the moments you love, enjoy it and hammer this guy.

Since there is nothing going on over the other side of the pond with the futbol leagues, I happened and decided to take a peak at the Mets this past week. Oh boy!!!! This team reminds me of the late 70's team with the likes of Jack Heideman at SS, Lenny Randle at 3rd, Pepe Mangual in CF. I know injuries have hit this team hard, but holy crap this team has lost the spirit to play this game.
If I am Manuel, I would have Bernazard as far as possible from the club house. The dude is a major league back stabber. The "shirt off his back" incident shows the lack of class this dude has. That is your typical "El Barrio" street attitude. I should know, I saw it everyday in front of my childhood building at Longwood Ave and Fox St in the South Bronx.

Where is NYRangers? Usually he'd be here saying things will be fine cause someones OPS or VORP is going to spike.
EDIT: And the Mets should be sellers. Restock the system with whatever you can get. Get some cheap talent. Listen to offers for everyone outside of Santana and Rodriguez. You wont get a lot for anybody outside of Wright or Reyes but that can be dealt with in the off-season. Especially Reyes.

I don't like the attitude of some Yankee fans, but at least they've won something in the last two+ decades to crow about.
Mets fans were acting like they were owed something just because this team one the division in 2006 and went to the NLCS.

Yeah, I'll be there tonight up in 503. I have to say, it really does feel like the Mets of old now. The futility feels almost cozy in its familiarity. Sure, the chokes of the last couple seasons were pretty gut wrenching, but truly this is my accustomed brand of masochism.
EDIT: (Re: TB) About time. I look forward to the press conference. This organization does a good enough job of making itself look bad on its own without some clown in the front office helping. Hopefully this has good ramifications down the line.

Hmm, so Omar said that HR was investigating the incidents before they hit the papers. Maybe it's just cover, but that could also be the source that initially tipped the Daily News to his shenanigans. If I was a sports reporter I think having a guy (or gal) in a club's HR office could be very beneficial.

Did I seriously just get an e-mail from Omar Minaya notifying me about Tony being fired?
This is the most ridiculous e-mail I have ever received in my entire life. The e-mail is very bizarre too. I didn't feel like I was being talked to like a fan being told news, I felt like I was being talked to like a stockholder in a business.
It didn't make me feel like I was a part of the Mets, it made me feel like this organization is an even bigger joke than I thought it was.

IS this for real? From Metsblog:
QUOTE
Minaya was clear to point out that Adam Rubin of the Daily News, who wrote the initial reports, had been lobbying the team for a job in the team’s player development department.
…interesting… so, maybe this will finally answer my question of why rubin is always wearing a suit… seriously, always with the suits…
…seriously, though, the insinuation, which is pretty serious, as i hear it from omar, is that rubin wrote this story about tony to try and get tony fired, because he was seeking a job in the team’s player development department… this is an amazing accusation, and omar better have proof…
Rubin, in the audience, then told Minaya, to his face, that he is ‘despicable’ for alleging that he set out to ‘tear Tony down’ to take his job.
…this just took a fascinating turn… i have never heard of anything like this, which is about to make national attention, i would think, in terms of sports and media…
In a post to his media watchdog blog for Newsday, Neil Best called this press conference one of the “strangest in the history of New York media!”

IS this for real? From Metsblog:
Yeah, I was just coming to post that. This situation has become flat out bizarre. If Rubin did use his column as a means toward an end, as is being alleged, that is a complete violation of journalistic ethics and is deplorable. Like Matt said, though, Omar better have proof. That is a pretty big accusation to make, especially since this virtually guarantees the story national attention.

Adam Rubin has stated more than once that he never asked for a job. He asked how people got into the business. How do you get jobs in baseball? How do you pursue a job? Not that he was asking for a job.
As a fellow journalist, I am really pissed off at how they did this. I need to email some of my friends now. This is fucking ridiculous.
Oh and I missed my train to the game (because I forgot the tickets) so now I have to wait for the 6:07. I'm debating if I should even go. But my issue isn't with the guys on the field at this point.
