pssst. The Yankees and Red Sox are in the 15th inning in a game that actually matters...

Hey, I don't jump ship even when this team doesn't have much of a shot. This hasn't exactly been an awful game.

Hey now, let's not start throwing around accusatory tones. When given the option of watching the Triple A Mets play the abysmal Padres late on a Friday night, or watching the Yankees play Boston in extra innings in a game that has playoff implications, it's kind of a no brainer.

If the Mets organization isn't going to care enough to actually care about the welfare of their team and actually do something about this absolutely dreadful training staff, then why should I care enough to watch?

At the very least, A-Rod just won the game in the 15th inning with a 2 run walk off home-run. So I saw something that may never happen again, an A-Rod clutch hit, let's flip over to the Met game. oooooh the drama, Heath Bell pitching against his old team keeps the score at 2-1 getting out the Mets juggernaut...Rick Reed.

cmon now.
SorryaboutthatWhoa
screw you double post.

'Night, A-Rod.

You've never lived halfway between Boston and NY have you?
I'm sick and tired of Sox-Yankees. The stadium can implode when those two teams play for all I care. I just don't care any more.

KROD HAS A SAVE OPPORTUNITY! YA GOTTA BELIEVE!

Stop typing to me, your missing K-Rod blow another save...

Can someone please tell the bullpen that it's 2009 and not 2008. Thanks.

No I haven't. I understand your frustration, but I still consider it great baseball whenever they meet up. Even when the Mets are GOOD I usually end up flippin over and watching, unless the Mets are playing Philly or something.

It became tedious after the Sox won the World Series in 2004. And the worst part is that I have a number of friends on Facebook who are Yankee fans and another number of friends who are Sox fans. So I see their crap in their status messages when they play each other. I guess that's better than having to be in the same room with them all.

xcheck24
Holy shit, I hate being right.

lol

And I'm not just typing that, I am laughing right now. The only way it could have been any better is if whoever the hell is playing right field for the Mets right now sprained his neck watching the ball go out of the park.

Once the count went to 3-2 I knew it was over. HE HAD TO THROW A STRIKE THEN. Unfortunately the Padres guy got all of it.
xcheck24
I'm laughing too. I mean, how can you not?
There are fans who get angry and mad when things don't go right. I just don't give a shit. I keep watching (when I'm around to watch) because they're my team and I just can't imagine not watching. This certainly isn't the worst Mets team I've watched play over the years.

Nice theory but wrong.Since the Castillo drop against the Yankees he's had 13 save opportunities and has only converted 8. He's got an ERA over 7.

You know how I know the Yankees are winning? The post count in the Yankee thread is doubling and it's leaking over to these boards.

Really shocking that the posts go up during a Red Sox series. Even though its the same people posting all season long. That axe you are griding must be ginormous.

How does one grid an axe?

I guess something good comes out of this season. Prospect development!

This is absolutely unbelievable.

David Wright getting hit in the head is the scariest thing I've seen in person at a sporting event. It was like the whole stadium was holding its breath until he got up and walked off the field. Thank God.

No its the 2009 Mets! No seriously though what happened? I missed the game.
xcheck24
Matt Cain hit Wright in the head.
Santana then tried to hit Sandoval. He ended up throwing behind him and then Sandoval hit a HR.
Then he hit Molina, the next batter.

Mets also came back in the 8th inning to tie it, but they lost in the 10th when Molina hit a HR.
Nilan 666
It's amazing that no Met has been shot in the field at this point.

Maybe if they played in Newark.

These throwbacks are fucking awesome. David could be done for the season because he has a concussion (I say rest him, we're through anyway.) Don't want any lingering effects.

If they don't that would be ridiculous.

Why Beltran is not officially shut down yet is beyond me..

Delgado I can see as he will be playing for a contract in the off season.

I am sure he will DH somewhere.

xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Luis Castillo Hit a Home Run. huh.gif In one of the worst hitters parks. Luis. Castillo. This team gets stranger every day.

He has been pain free in his workouts. If he's pain free and healthy, why not play him?

And Delgado is done.

Because it does nothing for him or the team at this point. Not to mention the fact that everything that could go wrong HAS gone wrong.

Name me one position this year where a starter has been healthy all season. Then name me one position where a Met starter hasn't been placed on the DL this season.

Everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. The Mets are done, and every single starter needs to lay low and let this awful horrible season pass without anyone else getting injured for the first time, or again.

The risk is not worth it, because there is absolutely no reward.
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Until yesterday the answer would have been 3B with Wright, but damn you Matt Cain!
xcheck24
I don't understand this "don't let them come back if they're healthy" mentality.
If he's healthy, he should play. It would be ridiculous for him to just sit around essentially twiddling his thumbs when he could be playing. What's he going to do? Go play minor league rehab games for the rest of the season?
I guess by this mentality, Billy Wagner should just not come back either.

If Beltran was still hurting and pushing himself to come back for the good of the team, I would say that he shouldn't bother. That's how I feel about Delgado and Reyes. But he's pain free at this point.
SorryaboutthatWhoa
Maybe I'll use your own posts to illustrate why beltran should probably shut it down and wait till next year...
