Well that was in a way anti-climactic, yet WE WON! WOOOO

I have Jurrjens in 1 big money league and Gonzalez in another big money league. So obviously I am not happy at all with Greg Gibson's bad 9th inning call at thirdbase. Really, I know it was close but not that close. It wasn't even a tie. Beltran was out trying to steal 3rd.

Right now, Beltran is above criticism in my mind. He is playing at an unhuman level lately.

And this is why I hate the steroids era. Carlos is having a career year so far and I want to be amazed and enjoy it, but in the back of my head it's "is he juicing? Are these big hits legit?" It's killing me.

Lots of people who defend the steroids era use the argument "would it diminish your enjoyment of the accomplishments any if you knew they were using? No, it wouldn't." Well it would for me.

I'd much rather lose clean than cheat and win. Now I don't know if my team is doing either.
xcheck24
The problem with the steroids era, Rhino, is that we fans ate it all up.

People call my attitude "zen" or something, but I'd just rather be like James Earl Jones from Field of Dreams when it comes to baseball.
Melvin
I'm glad Fernando Tatis is on steroids.
xcheck24
I didn't even see the HR. I'm sitting here doing work in a bar and when I looked up it was 6-4. Now I look up again and it's 6-5.
Rhino
David Wright must really enjoy getting booed.
xcheck24
How come you guys aren't keeping me up on the info? Hmmmm.

I really hate West Coast trips. Can't watch the games. Well we won 7-4. All that matters is that it was tied in the 9th, then we won.
xcheck24
I think I have a pair of tickets available for sale on June 23. I have to check. These would be my top row of the stadium seats.

Day or night game?

Day or night game?

It's a Tuesday night game. I have to work that night. Stupid Township Committee moved their meeting.
xcheck24
This team seems like it's got something it's been missing for awhile. . .heart and soul.

darn I was hoping it was a day game.
xcheck24
So it is indeed that night. $20 each for the seats. I think it's the Cardinals. See previous post for view from my seats. If interested, let me know.
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
What's more surprsing? The Mets getting 16 hit or Johan giving up 11 hits and 6 run (4 earned)?
xcheck24
The Mets have been scoring a lot of runs lately, especially late. So to me Santana having an off game, although expected at some point, is the more surprising of the two.
xcheck24
I hate Castillo.

That is all.
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Lotta walks this inning.
xcheck24
That's not going to make Maine jealous, Pelf.
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Topping the list of pleasant surprises this year: Alex Cora.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand as I post that he flies to right. great....
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Wow, I am never praising a player again. Cora is out with a thumb injury.
xcheck24
I'm finding it more entertaining to be critical of the ESPN announcers over on Twitter than it is to actually watch this game.

Steve Phillips is onebitter little idiot. Beltran. Really? Beltran of all people. When Jope morgan of all people comes to the defense of a Met, you know you're an idiot.

I hate how they call Beltran, Beltrahhhn. Its like calling Korpikoski Korpikowski. It just doesn't work.

Jon Miller over-pronounces all of the foreign names, especially Latino players. The ESPN broadcast is just insanely frustrating all around, with Joe Morgan and Steve Phillips on there to boot.
xcheck24
I put the tv on mute and turned on the radio. I hate Wayne Hagin, but they're so much better than what ESPN has to offer.

And what is up with Pelf and all the balks today?
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Cain is up to 110 pitches, and I am really hoping he does not pitch the 7th. I want to beat up on some relievers!
xcheck24
You know they're going to tie it in the 9th inning and this is going to go something like 12 innings.

And we'll all be up watching it.
Melvin
Pelfrey shouldn't break in new feet on days he starts.
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Correct me if I am wrong, but shouldn't we let Takahashi start ONE game if Neise shows he can't handle the pressure yet?

sadly the rest of them are. Iknow alot ofpeople will cut them slackbecause they've been on a roll, but you can't go down into the 8thinning in every single game and expect to comeback in all of them.
xcheck24
Eh, the difference between tonight and other games is that they just haven't been in it at all tonight. Other games they've scored earlier than they have tonight. I'm not expecting them to win at this point.

Funny how it's role reversal. Last season we'd say "you can't score early and expect it to stand the entire game."
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Remember folks you have to play 9 innings.

tonights game sucked because whenever i turned it on while enjoying the celtics lose, eh eh, they were blowing quality chances, practically the entire game.

Cain walks thebases loaded and they don't get a single run in? Absolutely, positively unacceptable. I don't care if they've won 100 in a row, you've gotta lay the hammer down.
Howmany did they leave stranded tonight? I know they got 7 hits and at least those 3 walks andI saw one other walk for sure, so at least 11. Again, I can pretend to not care because they've looked so good, but I don't look at the gamethat way.

I'm ok with losing, I'm not okay with losing like this.
xcheck24
Them leaving guys on base and not scoring like tonight has not been the norm lately. It's one game. If they do it again tomorrow, then I'll be concerned.
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Again can't win every game. Just don't play this this tomorrow and get some runs.

It's not been the norm over the last 10 games, the season as a whole, it absolutely has been, and this team in general over the last 3 years, itmost absolutely has been.

If I was the manager, andjust as a fan in general, nothing would drive memorenuts than my team coming out and thinking they can take their foot off the gas because they already won a series. This game was onnational tv and there is no reason why they shouldn't have been up for it, especially when the Giants tried to hand them the game on at least 2 occasions that I saw.
xcheck24
Actually, I'd think more that they'd play like tonight than they have for the last 10 games (or even a bit before that) because they don't have Delgado and they don't have Reyes. And now there's no Cora.

People want to dwell and say "oh God, here we go again" because of the last few years. But this team just feels different. Are they perfect? No way in hell. But there's just something different about these guys this season. Like I said earlier in this thread, they seem like they have more heart and soul than they have in quite some time.

If they go into LA and win at least two games, they will have gone 5-2 on the west coast. 5-2. That's a phenomenal trip to the west coast.
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Someone really needs to make a .gif of Pelf's first balk of the game.
Melvin
Yo...Ramon. Your nickname is "Shrek". You have a head the size of a tugboat and a body shaped like a 55-gallon oil drum. Use those things and block the friggin' plate for once.
xcheck24
Steve Philips somewhere is saying "and that's why beltran is an awful player."
xcheck24
Gary: "Why do they have a tarp, by the way?"

xcdudesquadloves91!!!
Who the fuck is this team and what the fuck have they done with my New York Mets?

3 I repeat 3 opening day Starters are playing today. In an important game in my opinion. 2/3 of the team is out WTF!
xcdudesquadloves91!!!
I fell asleep around the 6th. We lost in 11 great....

If only it were that simple...

This was beyond laughable. I didn't know it was possible for a major league team to make so many foolish mistakes in such a short period of time.
