Face of the team does not mean he's the leader. Standing around and answering questions with the press doesn't make him the leader.

As for the team needing to find an identity. . .This team hasn't exactly had an identity since 2006, except maybe for blowing the 2007 season. Plus they have had to reinvent how they approach and play the game, especially since CitiField is so different than Shea Stadium. Names and faces may stay the same, but that doesn't mean a team isn't struggling to find their identity and who they are as a team.

And by the way, I like that a team can go into a game and know that even if they're down early they can come back and win. That they feel they're never out of it. But that's just me. Besides, this team doesn't always go into the game and not score first. In fact, they were scoring early and often until the last four games. Even before they went on their hot streak.

That's where the "heart and soul" thing comes from. They seem hungrier at times. And they seem like they're never going to give up. Carlos Beltran is the personification of this. This team goes as Carlos Beltran goes. He is the leader of this team more than anyone else. Just in the last three seasons he's been able to hide a bit behind Delgado.

So yeah, Dice-K comes off the DL for tonight's game. Against Santana. Oof-ah. Is Reyes still nursing his calf injury? I hope so because if not, he'll steal about 8324 bases.

The word is Reyes won't be playing at all this weekend. Which scares me to death considering the alternative to a gimpy Reyes.

And Reyes isn't the only one who steals. This team stole something like 13-14 bases against the Giants, seven in one game. And Reyes wasn't playing.

I downloaded a homemade mod for MLB2K9 on PC for Citi Field to put all the accurate ads and other touches in there from the real stadium. For those of you who watch more Mets than I, are most of the ads and stadium shots accurate? It looks fantastic. The rotating ad display behind home plate even advertises SNY shows and the correct days and times they're on!
