I'm watching the Today show and they just reported that PETA is pissed off at Obama because he swatted at and killed a fly during a television interview. They want him to use more humane ways to get rid of flies.
Are you kidding me? Seriously?

What's more humane than an instantaneous death?

Funny - will Ingrid Newkirk get upset at the bacteria and maggots that will be feasting on HER for eternity after she dies?

Why are we even shocked by this? It's probably a straight publicity grab. They know people will babble about PETA.

The actual video of him killing the fly is the best part of the whole thing:
Make sure you note the "breaking news" at the bottom.

I wonder if he could do that with chop sticks. That would be impressive.

The better debate is regarding the effect of PETA's attention-grabbing stunts.
It gets them recognition amongst the crazies, who give them money, but it keeps them fringe and irrelevant. Could they get more money otherwise? Maybe. But I think all these stupid stunts repeatedly prove that PETA has no interest in saving the world, as they have to know that these stunts will always prevent that from happening.

On the other hand Peta are to be commended for getting various female celebrities to doff their clothes in protest. That said, *blblblblbllblblblblblbllblblblblbllblblbl*
