Full Version: iPod Question

So I love my iPod Classic. (But I still hate Apple! [Shakes fist!])

But I have a question! The display when the backlight goes off is a clock and a picture of the battery which is not only boring, it's aggravating because if I want to know what song just popped up on my shuffle or see how much time is left in a song, I have to prod the faeries. If I go into settings and set the backlight to always on then I always have song info but I'm guessing this is draining my battery. I can't find any option in the settings to change the default sleep display, nor can I find anything online.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I looked for this, too. Not online, but played with the ipod for a few minutes.
It struck me as really stupid to go to a clock instead of the song. I have a watch, dammit. I have like 40 of them. I'm not giving them up because an ipod is occasionally in my pocket, or more likely on the dash of my car.

The other thing that drives me nuts is that the stupid piece of crap turns ON when I unplug it. Why the fuck would I want that? If I want it on I'll turn it on, but if it's turned on and charging then removed it's probably to be thrown in a bag. Don't turn on and drain the battery. I'd guess it'd automatically turn off in a few minutes, but I haven't tested it. Still, every day when I pull into work I grab the iPod, stop the song, turn it off, put it on hold, and unplug it from the car charger/radio broadcast. Often I'll do it in that order, then immediately have to unhold it and turn it off. Again.

Here's another problem with the iPod:

That's not where I parked my car this morning! I actually parked it in that spot to the left but apparently I was so busy fucking around with my iPod (unplugging it from the car transmitter, plugging in headphones, dropping in pocket, etc) that I forgot to put the parking brake on.

The amusing thing is that I did not discover this until like 45 minutes later when my coworkers arrived.

Not a donut! I just haven't gotten around to replacing my hubcap yet sad.gif (I've gone native.)

So without the parking break on, your car drifted backwards out of its parking spot on level ground and made almost a 90 degree turn?

I think you got a ghost car there. ghost.gif

If I recall correctly, haven't you had parking brake issues in the past? A Mazda 3, if memory serves?

That time the parking brake was actually on! But it was like 45 degree grade and I didn't turn the wheels in towards the curb. (The car was in gear though.)

This time the car was not in gear (I never bother to put it in gear unless I'm on a steep incline) and I didn't bother to straighten the wheel. That said, it must have drifted out really slow because I sat in the car for a while before I got out and then walked away in plain sight of the car for a good three minutes.

I looked into this too, and as far as I could find, there is no way to change it. Very annoying.
