Who says he was throwing at them though? Why couldn't he just have had no command all night? It's not like Volstad or Florida had any beef with other Nat players, just Morgan.

The Nationals seemed to think so... in the past they have actually shown that they don't approve of Morgan or his antics, but this time actually rallied behind him with the manager even saying "we decide when to run, not the Marlins"

Nyjer Morgan is my new favorite baseball player.

... and
Milton Bradley and Carl Everett are # 2 and #3 !

I saw the play where he plowed into the catcher, and he had no choice. The catcher had the plate blocked with his foot so a slid wouldn't have worked.

A slide would've worked just fine. His foot was not in the middle of the plate,it was on the front part of the plate, and the plate was not blocked.

EDIT:OOPS! I'm thinking of the other play where he bumped into the catcher! My bad.

Trevor Hoffman just recorded career save #600 at home against St. Louis.

Sparingly...he's been bad this year.

Who blows two saves against the Pirates in three days in September?

MY BOY CORDERO!!!!

Die, you fat fuck.

I can only imagine the drama in this thread if Dustin Pedroia had admitted to "acting" his way onto first base.

I'd have no problem with it. Shit like that, or attempts at it, happen frequently.

Oh yes because you know us so well! Honestly I don't think I'd give a shit. These kind of plays happen in sports all the time. Receivers pretending like they caught a pass that bounced off the turf , outfielders trying to sell a catch that was trapped etc. As Jim Rome said it's not like Jeter yelled at a fielder to distract him into dropping the ball like ARod did or tried slapping the ball out of a fielder's glove . I don't see the big deal and I don't think I'd care if Pedroia or anybody else tried it.
Perhaps the overacting to sell it was a bit much but that would be my only complaint regarding the play

Red Sox are still hanging around! Knockin the Sox out of the race is like trying to kill Rasputin! That makes me nervous! As much as I despise the Sox I have to admire them. They've lost Youkllis, Pedroia , Ellsbury ,Cameron ,Lowell and Varitek for the season or extended periods of time. Their starting pitching w/exception of Lester and Bucholz has sucked and their bullpen has been disappointing but they are still mathematicallly in the race.

Hey, Mr. Fancy Pants! You just settle down.
SorryaboutthatWhoa
I know this is random, but once again another season goes by when everyone in the sports world talks about how great the Marlins are going to be, and right now they are behind the Mets (tied in points) in the standings. I realize this is a knock at my own club, but this is 3 years in a row now.

How many years do we have to play the "Marlins are going to compete game" before people realize they aren't unless some drastic changes are made.
jburns
Welp. This seals it. GO RAYS!

damn...now I want to root for them too

So apparently I'm going to the 1st home game of the playoffs for the Rangers. The tickets were $30 bucks. 30!!!! I cannot get over that. NEVER in my life would I ever have thought I'd be going to a playoff game of any major sport for $30.

Those shootout losses add up, good thing they got Renney in the dugout.

Heh...that's what happens when the team sucks for so long. Lure the fans in with cheap playoff tickets. I have a friend who lives in Phoenix and has season tickets for the Coyotes. His playoff tickets this year were $12.

TWELVE DOLLARS.
xcheck24
I remember in 2006 the NLDS tickets not being that bad. Maybe $50? Not awful considering it's NY.
But the NLCS were $75 per ticket and then $100 per ticket for the World Series (never got used *sigh*). I think those prices may actually be league mandated.
Dr. D
My ticket for the Reds playoff game was $45. Not sure where it is...I think probably the better portion of the upper deck.
Bleedin-Blue
Not bad for a team that hasn't been relevant in your lifetime!

Is anyone else getting really tired of the fucking Phillies?

Um....you realize there are Mets fans here, right?
Bleedin-Blue
REALLY?? Where? I've always wanted to see one!
xcheck24
See if I answer your Mets-related questions again.
Bleedin-Blue
HA!! Well, when you answer it with Starter; a company that's been out of business for over TEN YEARS, I don't think I'll be coming to you with questions anymore!
xcheck24
You realize 10 years ago was 2000. You asked me late 1980s. And you know why I thought of Starter? They made those silk jackets back in the 1980s the Mets wore.

Hey.

I was a few days old when we won the 90 World Series.

Pffft...any REAL Reds fan would know that they won the Central division in 1995.

I went to NHL games at the Meadowlands for $12...

...in 1991.
xcheck24
And had a one-game playoff in 1999.
Bleedin-Blue
Yeah that doesn't count as post-season play though. Too bad it's not like the good old days when division tie-breakers were three game series at the end of the year.

Obviously because the Braves won the Series that year. Then next year mariano happened and they haven't won it since despite winning 14 straight division titles..

What I wasn't sure of was if it was the NLDS or NLCS. But I was correct in thinking we beat the Dodgers in the NLDS.

Obviously you've never been a Yankee fan smack dab in the middle of Red Sox Nation so you can piss off!

The first step towards recovery is admitting the problem.

And you are the only one in this state thinking of a possible Red Sox comeback. Not even WEEI or the Sports Hub talks about them anymore.

Ever since the '04 playoff debacle ,I haven't been the same. I used to exude confidence when it came to the Sox and Yankees.

There's a new 30 for 30 coming this month on ESPN called:
FOUR DAYS IN OCTOBER

And it is going to be the best thing ever. I get chills when I see the preview.

Do I have to turn in my Yankee fan card for admitting that I rooted for the Sox against St. Louis?
