My father always says what was unbelievable about the Mets in 1969 was how they beat that Orioles team, which was just loaded.

They were loaded. They had arguably the greatest 4 man rotation in history that yr. Interesting that in the same calendar year the heavily underdog Jets beat a loaded Baltimore Colts team.

Sorry but I can relate to Jen.If the Red Sox were in the WS with Phillies I'd be rooting hard for the Phillies. I'm not hating the Phils like many of you. I don't have that history. I actually rooted for the Phillies in '08. I know their fans are dicks but I don't have any exposure to them .I just see them on the TV.

The O's won the American League for three straight years back then. 1969, 1970 when they won it all and then 1971 losing to the Pirates. They were also in it in 1966 as well when they smoked the Dodgers in four straight. In the 1960's, the only other team with more Series appearances than the O's was the Yankees. It's absurd what has happened to that once-proud franchise.

Mets fans are pretty bad too. They're similar to Sox fans pre-2004...Only more obnoxious.

By the way, Phillies fans had "Mets suck!" type banners at their parade two years ago. That's so much like the Red Sox and their Yankee hatred. No wonder Jen likes them. wink.gif

Go to a Red Sox /(insert any team name other than Yankees) game and vendors will be circling around the park hawking "Yankees Suck" t-shirts!

If they weren't in our division I'd be rooting for them to make a comeback but in the 60's and 70's I hated them .I probably hated them even more than the Sox because the Sox weren't all that good back then (except '67 of course ,but Yankees sucked). They were the Evil Empire then. They were so good, but they were great because they had the best farm system back then, hands down. They had something called "The Oriole Way" which was preached at all levels of their minor leagues.

Something landed on Bruce Bochy's shoulder while he was walking back to the dugout after the final out. It startled him before he brushed it off and was quite funny to see.

Any team that does well has fans that jump on the bandwagon but then they also have their fans that have followed them from generation to generation. I think this is particularly true in my case and with a lot of Yankee fans . I think that's also true for Red Sox fans . They have an extremely loyal following and I think that love of the Sox is passed down from father to son/daughter .
I've followed the Yankees for as long as I can remember. I have memories of sitting in the living room on a Sunday afternoon w/my dad and uncles watching the Yankees of the early 1960's before my dad died in '62.

Of course, all teams have those. I was just responding to SATS getting fucking stupid and trying to defend Yankees fans like they don't bandwagon but all Phillies fans do. He's a dumb whore.

Phillies fans >>>>>>>>>>>>> Yankees fans
There is no known mathematical notation to express how much more I hate Yankees fans as compared to Phillies fans.

Have you ever had to live in a city full of Phillies fans? Yankees fans are nowhere near the level of fucktard that Phillies fans are. Yankees fans gloat because honestly, they fucking deserve it. They've won 27 championships and 40 pennants in their history. That's more than any other professional team in history. There have been 107 World Series so far and the Yankees have won 25% of them.

What have the Phillies done? Nothing. They've sucked most of their history. They are good in relatively short spurts. They've been around since 1883 and have TWO World Series titles and SEVEN pennants. They also recently were the first team to reach 10,000 losses.

Fuck the Phillies and their fans.

Um, yes, I presently do live in a city full of Phillies fans. I still hate the Yankees and their fucking fans way more. I really couldn't give a fuck about amazing wonderful history.

Well, I live in Delaware, but I commute into Philly daily (Suburban Station) and Delaware is basically a Philly area anyway.

Who let the little girl into the dugout?
Alitaki
and can she pitch 3 games in the next series?
Bleedin-Blue
That would be nice. 1, 4 and 7.

What is with the hair though? I always thought the emo tools avoided sports because of how 'conformist' they are.

When does it start? Thursday? I know the ALCS starts on Friday so that would make sense. I just don't know why the hell they have to wait so damn long. I need a Giants jersey.

I have an Alberto castillo( former Met) '03 home cream colored jersey. Size 46. Sell it to you at a reasonable price.

So THAT'S who Lincecum is! Being too lazy to google him I had no clue who he was, but I hear he's a great pitcher.

edit: and THIS is the most animated I've ever seen him.

Fuckin Lee is really dealing tonight and has put the Rays on the brink. Is this good or bad for the Yanks?

Great for the Yanks. Lee won't be pitching until game 3. And can only pitch probably game 6 or 7 too. Best case scenario for them.

The Rays had a cute little season. 2010 American League East Champions! Bye bye, Carl Crawford!

Could he be ready for Game 2? He's done the three-days-rest thing before and it's worked; especially against the Yanks. Or would they hold him until Game 3 on the road?

No the Rangers said he won't start on three days rest I'm pretty sure. That's why he didn't pitch game 4.

Thanks for saving Lee's arm Texas! We're going to want him to be fresh and rested next season!

I did it last year and I'll do it again. Go to one Met game, just one, when the Phillies bus in their fans. They deserve nothing except maybe jail time.

Its ok SATS. We know why you'd be rooting for us and believe me, we don't mind. Smite the common enemy. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. I rooted for the Mets in '86 too. We understand where you're coming from.

I have, it was actually a pleasurable experience. They were playing the Tigers, they won, and Mariano came in to pitch and this was a meaningless game in like July and flashes from cameras were going off throughout the entire stadium. It was pretty cool.

I've also been to A LOT of Met/Yankee games at Shea and let me tell you, not once did the Yankee fans act like Philly fans do. I was even at the game when Roger Clemens had to bat and Estes threw behind him. Met fans were nothing short of maniacal that day and not even then were Yankee fans stepping out of line.

Now this isn't to say i don't know my fair share of Yankee fans, I ended up at a Yankee fans house in 2000 when they beat the Mets, I know what they can be like.

It's nothing compared to Philly. Nothing.

Well....... if he's pitching game 7 that would be a bad thing for the Yankees, but yeah Yanks are lucky they won't see him until game 3. Limit his opportunities.
