So I recently got accepted into a study abroad program for next fall in Geneva, Switzerland, and in my research of the area, I'm thrilled to see that Geneva has a professional hockey team in the Swiss National League, Genève-Servette Hockey Club. I check out the team website, and take a glance at the roster to see if there are any names I might recognize. And then I see him.
Marek fucking Malik.
God dammit, just when I thought I was done with him for the rest of my life, he finds a way to jump right back into it.

Sweet. Enjoy the area, dude. Any idea how competitive the Swiss leagues are?
(P.S. Make sure you go to the Chamonix area.)

I've been following them for the last week or so since I found out, and they're in the semifinals of the playoffs and came in 2nd during the regular season, so they seem to be pretty competitive in the National League. As a whole, though, I have no idea where the level of play is at. Though Jussi Markkanen is the goalie for the team GSHC is playing right now, and gave up 6 goals both today and earlier this week.

Since i follow the Italian league, there are also some articles on the Swiss league, mostly German though. It appeared to me that it is competitive. Hockey can grow in Central Europe and i think it will..........just hopefully before than expected.

Wear a Rangers jersey to the next game and make sure to get his attention. Then boo him for old times sake.

It'll be like watching AHL or IHL level hockey. I'd be pretty pumped about it if I was in your shoes.

I only asked because I watched French league and it was more like collegiate club hockey. The best part of the deal should be that tickets ought to be relatively cheap and easy to get, and it should be plenty of fun to get into.

Now you have to pack a traffic cone to bring to the game.
Did you notice the nitwit just skate off the ice once he realized what he did? My 3 most hated Rangers of all time in order: 1. Marek Malik 2. Waive Redden 3. Tom "Buckethead " Poti
pathetic defensemen one and all

Only Bryan McCabe could score a better own goal than that.

definitely Ollie, as this goal makes Malik "even" in lucky shots.

Malik never was one for fundamentals. Never pass it in front of your own net, right?

Also I just had a great idea. What if you took the sound of the announcer from the shootout goal "OH MALIK PUT IT THROUGH HIS LEGS!" and put it into this own goal video. Hilarity ensues!
malik was always making at least one god awful ridiculous pass a game near the end of his tenure in NY.
but what the hell was the goalie doing? he really wasnt in the best position for the situation either. malik was coming around the net with pressure from a forechecker, the goalie shouldve been hugging the post there.

Yeah there you go ! It's always the goalie's fault isn't it?

Mailk always made that pass, even when he was playing well. Or he just skated right in front of the goalie with the puck.

My first attempt at any video editing ... gave props to Eric for the idea
I may have to re-edit it, I'm not happy about how quickly the music comes in at the end ... oh well, I'm still learning.

Went to a game last night, Geneve-Servette against Bern. Malik has (thankfully) parted ways with the team before the season, but none other than Christian Dubé, former Rangers standout, scored a goal for Bern in a 2-0 victory.
